Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Originating in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you see a drop in your heating and cooling charges, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our wide variety of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first considering your wants and needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it mutually beneficially to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To speed up the process, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they’ll have all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the project and aligns them with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad range of high-grade products to choose from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the renovations you want to while building great value into your Birmingham area home all the while.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. We require them to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We look for the best Birmingham-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Working with a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that you will have the knowledge of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Birmingham homeowners choose Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Founded in 1925, Pella is privately-held. Our success depends upon customer satisfaction, not stock prices. Each of our high quality windows and doors are made with high standards and serviced by Pella’s unique Direct Sales Network. Unlike many of our competitors who sell exclusively through third-party channels, Pella has dedicated window and entry door showrooms throughout North America. This unique way of conducting business gives Pella clients in Birmingham a warm, personal experience with the support of a local to Birmingham, Pella-certified team. Whether you are contemplating the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a top quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
